Retreat to India.

If you want to know yoga, this is the way.

Paramanand Ashram · December.

Sunrise in Ujjain, one of the seven moksha-giving cities of India.

In December, Wood & Water School of Traditional Yoga travels to the Paramanand Ashram in India. We leave together, and you return when you choose.

This is a true ashram. We live the days as the ashram lives them.

What the days include

  • Community meals.
  • Bhakti yoga.
  • Karma yoga.
  • Classes with Guruji and the ashram’s teachers.
  • Classes with teachers and families of the community.
  • Ayurvedic treatments.
  • Darshan at the temples.

Not a vacation.

This is sadhana, a way of living and studying that changes the people who stay with it. It asks something of the people who come. It gives a great deal back. You will make friends who stay with you for a lifetime.

Practical details

  • Meals are vegetarian.
  • Rooms are shared or private, within the ashram.
  • For teachers, future teachers, and seekers.
  • Travel is from the U.S. in December.
  • Return when you choose.

Who the ashram is for

We ask you to reach out first, so we can talk about whether the ashram is right for you.

Retreat to Nepal

Deva Bhumi Ashram, Kathmandu · May

“If you’re at a crossroads in your life or in your yoga, this is for you.”

This is a spiritual journey, not a vacation. We leave in May and spend two weeks in Nepal, centered at Deva Bhumi Ashram in Kathmandu. You may leave sooner if you need to. You may also choose to stay with a local family in a village instead.

We will practice yoga. We will sit in sound healing. We will practice sacred cave meditation and visit temples and monasteries. We eat together, in community. If you want to go deeper, you can sign up for yoga training or sound healing training while we are there, or simply practice and take darshan.

There is no place like Nepal.

What the journey includes

  • Daily yoga practice
  • Sound healing
  • Sacred cave meditation
  • Temples and monasteries
  • Optional yoga training or sound healing training
  • Darshan
  • Community meals
  • Stay at the ashram, or with a local family in a village
